Getting Started

To start synchronising Brightpearl and dotdigital you will first need a Mothercloud account and my.mothercloud user. 

The following are required to start set up. If you do not have access please contact your account manager. 

  • Brightpearl admin access
  • dotdigital admin access
  • Mothercloud account

Once set up and enabled, the integration will send contact data from Brightpearl to dotdigital every 15 minutes. Once the order workflow has been enabled any orders that are created or updated will be sent from Brightpearl to dotdigital.

 

Adding an application

To create your integration you will first need to create new applications in your mothercloud account for Brightpearl and dotdigital. 

First you will need to log into mothercloud - https://my.mothercloud.com/login

Adding Brightpearl

  1. Go to the applications page and click add an application
  2. Select Brightpearl from the dropdown menu.
    Give your application a name, this is for reference only. We recommend naming your application after your store. e.g. UK Snowboards Brightpearl
  3. Add your data centre, for Europe this is 'eu1'
  4. Add your Brightpearl account name 
  5. To add the application reference and account token you will need to create a new private app in Brightpearl.



    1. Log into your Brightpearl account and go to the App Store page
    2. Click 'Private Apps' and then select 'Add Private App'



    3. Select 'System App' 
    4. Give the app a name, this can be anything but we suggest 'MothercloudAPI' for easy identification
    5. Give the app an identifier, this can be anything but we suggest 'mothercloudapi'. Identifiers must be lowercase. 
    6. Click 'Install' 
    7. Once created you will be able to see your Application Reference.



  6. Copy the details of the Private App across into Mothercloud.
    Important: Make sure that the details in Mothercloud match exactly those in Brightpearl. 
  7. Click 'Save' and your Brightpearl application will have been created.

Adding dotdigital

  1. Go to the applications page and click add an application
  2. Select dotdigital from the dropdown menu.
    Give your application a name, this is for reference only. We recommend naming your application after your store. e.g. UK Snowboards dotdigital
  3. Add your region, for Europe this is 'r1'
  4. To add the application email and password you will need to create a new API user in dotdigital
    1. Log into your dotdigital account, go to your user profile and select 'Access'



    2. Select 'API users' from the top tabs
    3. Click 'New User'



    4. dotdigital will assign a new API user email 
    5. Create a password of your choice and click 'Save'
    6. Copy your API user email into Mothercloud
    7. Add your API password into Mothercloud
      Important: Make sure that the details in Mothercloud match exactly those in dotdigital. 
    8. Click 'Save' and your dotdigital application will have been created.

 

Mapping Contact Data

Once your have created your Brightpearl and dotdigital applications you will need to set up and configure your integration. 

First navigate to 'Integrations' in the top menu of the mothercloud admin. Here you should see your two applications. 



  1. On the Brightpearl application click the green connector for 'Contact' and drag across to connect with 'Contact' on dotdigital.
  2. A configuration sidebar will open to enable you to map your contact fields for Brightpearl and dotdigital.



Contacts

Under contacts you can map Brightpearl contact data fields to dotdigital contact data fields. 

Note: By default; the primary email address on a Brightpearl contact will always be mapped to dotdigital and does not required set up. 

Map the data fields in Brightpearl that you want to send to dotdigital
e.g. firstName (Brightpearl) to FIRSTNAME (dotdigital)



Mailing Lists

Brightpearl contacts can be mapped to specific Address Books in dotdigital by using 'Contact Tags'.  More information on Brightpearl's Contact Tags can be found here.

e.g. SubscribedCustomers (Brightpearl) to SubscribedCustomers (dotdigital)

Enabling your workflow

You can chose to enable your workflow when ready. Once you enable the workflow and click 'save' and the integration will be live. 

Mapping Order Data

Once your have created your Brightpearl and dotdigital applications you will need to set up and configure your integration. 

First navigate to 'Integrations' in the top menu of the mothercloud admin. Here you should see your two applications. 

  1. On the Brightpearl application click the green connector for 'Orders' and drag across to connect with 'Orders' on dotdigital
  2. A configuration sidebar will open to enable you to map order fields from Brightpearl to dotdigital. 

Orders

Under orders you can map Brightpearl order data fields to dotdigital order insight data fields. 

Note: By default; we will send the following fields in dotdigital even if they are not in your configuration. 

  • Id
  • Email
  • Purchase Date
  • Delivery Address
  • Billing Address
  • Order Total
  • Currency
  • Order Status

For Line items

  • Name
  • Sku
  • Qty
  • PriceExTax



Enabling your workflow

You can chose to enable your workflow when ready. Once you enable the workflow and click 'save' and the integration will be live. 

Only once the integration is enabled and saved will order data be sync. Historic data will not be synced.
