Creating a discount code

A discount code can be used to apply an offer when the customer presents a voucher or code to the cashier. This is different from promotions which automatically apply discounts when a set of conditions are met, for example, a group of products are added to the basket.

Brightpearl POS discounts and promotions can only be applied within POS.

Discounts list

POS discounts are managed within Brightpearl back office at Settings > Brightpearl POS > Discounts. This is where all discounts created to date are displayed, with filters and the ability to export. Discounts can be added, deactivated or archived from the promotion list. And simple barcodes representing the code can be printed.

Creating a discount

When creating a discount, ensure that you have thoroughly thought through the application of the offer to prevent customers from taking advantage.

Discounts are created in Brightpearl at Settings > Brightpearl POS > Discounts.

Once a promotion is saved it is immediately sync’d to the stores (assuming they are online).

Discount settings

Specify a name and code to identify the discount. Codes must be unique. Any barcode or code already in circulation that is now being added to Brightpearl should be assigned the same code. To generate a unique code click the Generate button.

Discount active

Use the start and end dates and times to control when the discount is available. They can be set to automatically activate on a future date/time and to end on a certain date/time, for example 'offer for one day only' or 'offer ends at midnight', or they can be open ended and run until manually deactivated.

Discount type

Specify whether the discount is a fixed amount or a percentage, and whether there is a minimum spend required to qualify for the discount. Discount amount and minimum spend will apply in the currency of the store where the code is used.

Discount application

Specify whether the promotion applies to the entire order (basket), specific products or to all products in a particular category.

Define customers

Specify which customers the offer is open to - all customers, specific customers or groups of customers identified by tags.

Define usage

Specify whether there are any restrictions on the number of times this discount can be used by individual customers or in total.
