New features for BigCommerce

This is where you can read about all the features we've introduced for BigCommerce. We will be continuously updating this page with any new features added. You can also learn about all our new features in the release notes updates that we regularly email.

January 2020 | Store credit as order row

BigCommerce has a concept of store credit. A merchant can issue a store credit (treated as a refund in BigCommerce) to a buyer, who can later use that credit towards a future purchase.

Now, when the order with a store credit placed, it will be downloaded to Brightpearl as a store credit row with a negative amount, and 2094 liability account code assigned to it. Read more here

August 2019 | Selling of gift certificates

BigCommerce has a gift certificate concept that can be purchased and then used as a payment method on future orders. BigCommerce does not provide the ability to specify a SKU for a gift certificate line item. However, with Brightpearl, you will be able to assign a SKU to a gift certificate, so when an order downloads with the sale of a gift card, the Brightpearl gift certificate SKU would be downloaded as a line item.

You will need to create a non-stock tracked SKU for a gift certificate in Brightpearl and assign the “gift card” sale account code to make sure that the accounting for the sale of gift cards is correct. The gift certificate liability code can be assigned in Brightpearl at Settings > Company > Accounting: Account codes (nominal codes).

To map gift certificates/cards to a SKU in Brightpearl to go the BigCommerce Brightpearl app > Orders > Brightpearl gift certificates SKU.

January 2019 | Capture company name on contacts

Up until now all contacts created via the BigCommerce order download have been created without a company name. Now you can choose whether to capture the company name and when company name should be ignored, for example, if the customer has entered a company name of "None" or "Mr". This enables you to still capture the data but prevents contacts getting linked to companies when they shouldn't be. Enable contact company name in the Brightpearl BigCommerce app under customer settings.

August 2018 | Support for PayPal and Amazon Pay

To help support a wider range of payment methods, the Brightpearl BigCommerce app will first attempt to download a payment transaction but if no payment is found it will check the order for a payment method and use that information to create a payment in Brightpearl instead. The benefit of the payment download is that more payment gateway information can be captured in Brightpearl, but looking back to the order means Brightpearl orders will always be marked as paid where payment was taken, no matter what the payment method.

May 2018 | Stability improvements

Updates to the product and order download have helped to improve reliability and ensure updates are successfully received by BigCommerce.

May 2018 | Additional information captured for payments

The BigCommerce connector has been updated to begin using the new transactions API offered by BigCommerce. This means we capture more information on the payments created in Brightpearl as well as supporting additional gateways. The new information captured on a payment includes:
