Adding a customer and capturing customer details

POS sales don't need to be associated with a specific customer, but it is possible to assign them to a certain customer if required. You can either assign the sale to a customer which already exists in the back office, or create a new customer while processing the order.

Assign an existing customer to a basket

While at the basket

  1. Tap on "Add customer profile"
  2. Search for an existing customer
  3. Select the customer that you want to assign to the sale.

Note: The following fields are searched:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Company Name
  • All Emails
  • All phone numbers 
  • All addresses

If the customer assigned to the sale has a price list that differs from the store’s price list, and/or a profile discount, the related notification icon(s) appear(s) next to the customer’s name in the basket.

While in the delivery modal:

  1. Tap on the basket options (three red dots)
  2. Select “Delivery”
  3. Tap on “Add customer”
  4. Search for an existing customer
  5. Select the customer that you want to assign to the sale
  6. Tap on “Save”

Removing the customer that has been assigned to a basket

After assigning or adding a customer to the basket, you can remove the customer to make an anonymous sale instead.

  1. Tap the name of the customer that was added to the basket
  2. Tap "Remove"


If the customer who is being removed had a profile price list and/or discount applied to the basket, then the price list will be reset to the store’s default and the profile discount will be withdrawn. This will result in the basket row values getting recalculated and any applied offers re-evaluated.

Viewing or editing the details of the assigned customers

After assigning or adding a customer to the basket, you can view or edit their details.

  1. Tap the name of the customer that was added to the basket
  2. Tap "View/Edit"

Changing the customer that has been assigned to a basket

After assigning or adding a customer to the basket, you can change the customer to a different one.

  1. Tap the name of the customer that was added to the basket
  2. Tap "Search again"
  3. Search for an existing customer
  4. Select the customer that you want to assign

Adding a new customer

While in the basket

  1. Tap on "Add new customer"
  2. Tap the "+" button
  3. Enter the customer details

While in the delivery modal

  1. Tap on the basket options (three red dots)
  2. Select “Delivery"
  3. Tap on “Add customer”
  4. Tap the "+" button
  5. Enter the customer details

Anonymous sales

For orders that do not have a customer assigned or added, then the anonymous contact specified in the store settings will be assigned to the order in Brightpearl.
