Logging into POS

  • Open the POS app to see all users assigned to the store.
  • Tap your user login or scan your user (staff) barcode.

    • The staff barcode consists of the staff member’s Brightpearl ID. In order for the barcode to be read by the scanners currently supported by POS, it has to be generated following the “Code-128” protocol.
      • To generate a staff barcode, log into Brightpearl and navigate to Settings > Staff/users > List staff, then click into the staff member's Permissions
      • The page URL has the following format:

        https://[data center].brightpearlapp.com/p.php?p=permissions&id=XYZ

        where XYZ is the staff member's ID.

      • Use a free online resource (such as https://barcode.tec-it.com/en/Code128) to enter the staff member’s ID and print their barcode in Code-128 format.
  • Enter your 6-digit numeric passcode.

Sharing a till

Multiple users can use the same till.

If another user needs to use the till before you complete your sale with your customer, you can place the basket on hold and retrieve it when the other user has completed their sale.

All users will be able to see all the held baskets, so a cashier will be able to retrieve a held basket that was started by another cashier.

Sharing multiple tills

You can log in to multiple tills at the same time with a single staff login.

Logging out

Tap the ‘Lock’ button at the bottom left of the screen to return the app to the login screen.

If you had a basket with products added, then the basket will be placed on hold.

Auto logout

If there is no activity on screen whilst the basket is empty then the POS app will automatically log out the current user.

The timeout timer is configurable in the Settings menu. A manager can adjust the timer between:

  • 2 minutes
  • 5 minutes
  • Never
