Filtering dashboards and widgets

Brightpearl's dashboards allow you to customize the displayed data through the use of filters.

Widgets can be individually filtered, but the dashboards themselves have a more limited set of filters that apply to all widgets, letting you make high-level changes.

Intervals let you specify a time frame to report on for the dashboard you're working with. Along with classic "from" and "to" dates, you can also choose increments of time.

Increments are a way to specify the granularity of your data. For example, if you choose an increment of "1 week", you will get one point of data for each week between the start and end dates. Widgets will inherit those values by default, though this can be overridden in the widget-specific filters.

The channel filter lets you select which channels' data should be displayed in the widgets. The channel filter is particularly useful if you want to quickly switch between different branches of your business while retaining the same metrics.

Note: Individual widgets can also be filtered by channel. If a widget is already filtered by channel, filtering the dashboard by channel will result in the widget only displaying data from channels selected in both filters.

When you are happy with your filter configuration, use presets to save it and recall it across any dashboard easily.

Note: All dashboards users can use dashboard level filters.

Note: Only users authorized to edit dashboards can use widget-level filters.

To access a widget's filters, click the cog icon on the top right of a widget.

You will be directed to a page displaying all available filters to the left and a live preview of the widget on the right.

From there you will be able to change:

  • the widget's name
  • the widget type (depending on the base widget, from line to bar or area etc.)
  • the widget intervals
  • whether the widget should inherit filters from the dashboard or not

Remember to save your dashboards once you are happy with your widget filters.
