Here is an overview of the settings available for warehouse managers.
Templates
When Goods Out Notes are printed in WMS, the order, customer and product information is put into a template. Templates are created and edited in Brightpearl back office at Settings > Templates > Document templates.
If your sales channels and shipping methods require different content for goods out notes (such as channel logos, or ship method return policies), you can use channel brands. WMS will use the channel branding that’s set up already in Brightpearl, which you can override for any chosen channel / shipping method combination.
Set up your WMS template usage at Settings > Template. Choose a channel, and then choose a template per shipping method.
When you add a new template to Brightpearl, you will need to wait 24 hours for the template to be available to map to channels or shipping methods in WMS. Content changes made to existing templates will be reflected immediately in WMS the next time that template is used since template content is pulled dynamically from Brightpearl on-demand.
Note : Sometimes templates printed in WMS can look a little different from those printed directly from Brightpearl back office. Ensure you preview your template changes in WMS as well as Brightpearl.
Custom fields for packing
If you want warehouse associates to enter custom per-order information which is pushed back to Brightpearl sales order custom fields, you can add these fields to the packing process at Settings > Goods Out > Custom fields for packing.
Note that the warehouse associate will need to know about these fields, WMS does not prompt the user in any way during packing.
One example of use could be a 'reason for hold' when you have to park a GON. To update the custom field on the GON during packing, click the Update button on the packing screen.
Configuring deliveries and returns
Custom fields
When creating sales credits during the customer returns process, a warehouse associate can fill out sales custom fields. Choose the fields you want them to fill out at Settings > Deliveries > Custom fields for returns.
Here's an example with a custom field called "swing tags included" - to request the warehouse associate checks swing tags.
Providing a value for these fields is not mandatory.
Sales credit status
Choose which status your sales credits are set to when they are created from WMS.
Over-delivery
By default, over-delivery is not allowed. A user can only receive up to the quantity set on a delivery. You can allow over-receiving at Settings > Deliveries (you'll also have to update any associated POs in Brightpearl to match).
Bundles
There are a couple of options if you work with bundles, at Settings > Goods out.
Read more about packing bundles.
Audio alert
Many features in WMS are accompanied by an audio alert which is useful when the warehouse associate isn't in line-of-sight of their computer, or as an extra confirmation that WMS has performed the action.
Packing audio alerts are turned on at Settings > Goods out.
Delivery statuses
WMS delivery statuses can be paired with Brightpearl Purchase Order and Sales credit statuses, so that changes in WMS are also pushed up to Brightpearl. If a delivery has problems, for example an item received from your supplier is damaged, then you might not want your accounts team to pay for that purchase order.
Configure delivery statuses at Deliveries > Delivery statuses.
Setting the delivery status in WMS to "Flagged" would update the Brightpearl PO to "Delivery issue" in this example:
Barcode fields
You can choose which fields are searched when a user scans a barcode at Settings > Inventory.
Be aware that searching more fields may increase the time required to process the search. It's therefore best to only activate the fields that are required.
Additional features
There are some features which need to be enabled by Brightpearl for your account. If you would like to use these, please get in touch with our support team.
- Agile picking
Once it's been activated by Brightpearl support, turn it on at Settings > Agile picking. - Customer returns
- Inter-warehouse transfers
