Brightpearl Analytics | Products

The Products overview dashboard displays data from Brightpearl in the form of inventory and catalogue KPIs that provide true insight into your product’s performance. For category managers, buyers and those responsible for ranging and merchandising, product analytics supports detailed filtering by date range with year over year or period over period comparisons, channel, category, warehouse, supplier and more, to provide true insight into which products deliver profitable growth, which drive new customer acquisition and which generate the most repeat purchases and higher lifetime value.

To access the products overview dashboard, log into Brightpearl analytics and select BI Tunnel > Products overview.

Report parameters

The filters available in the product overview dashboard are:

  • Channel
    A multi-select option where you can select which channels should be considered when presenting order or credit information. Leaving this empty will return ‘all channels’
  • Warehouse
    A multi-select option where you can select which warehouses should be considered when calculating the inventory movements. Leaving this empty will return ‘all warehouses’
  • Category
    This refers to product reporting categories and applies to the entire dashboard. Leaving empty will return ‘all categories’
  • Order type
    Allows you to choose between sales or purchases for the revenue figures.
  • Order status 
    A multi-select option where you can limit the revenue figures to only consider orders on the selected statuses (useful if you want to exclude drafts or cancelled orders).
  • Supplier 
    A multi-select option where you can limit the data returned by supplier (or vendor). This refers to the primary supplier field in Brightpearl.
  • Date range
    Allows you to configure a timeframe for the data set presented.

Widgets / tiles

Products sold
A count of the individual units of stock sold within the parameters. This is calculated by counting all units on orders, regardless of shipping or fulfilment status.

Products received
A count of all products that were fully received from purchase orders. This is calculated from the goods-in notes in Brightpearl (so any unreceived purchase orders won’t be included, nor will any stock corrections).

Products on hand
The sum of the on-hand inventory for products that meet the filter. If filtering for more than a single day, then this will show the position as of the end date

The top performing products in terms of units sold, calculated from sales orders that match the filters regardless of shipping or fulfilment status.

The worst performing products in terms of units sold, calculated from sales orders that match the filters regardless of shipping or fulfilment status. The data used for this chart starts with sold values of ‘1’, so products with zero sales won’t show.

Units sold by category
A count of units sold within each reporting product category. 

Units sold by Brand
A count of units sold grouped by product brand.

Units sold by Supplier
A count of units sold grouped by their primary supplier/vendor.

A count of units sold grouped by channel. To stop the interface becoming too cramped this is currently limited to show the top 10 channels, but get in touch if you need more.

Revenue
The total revenue earned within the filtered parameters, regardless of fulfilment or shipping status.

COGs
Cost of Goods Sold. This represents the ‘Order row cost’ field from Brightpearl, shown here. When orders are first created, this is populated using the cost price list of the order, and then once you ship items Brightpearl will update it with the asset cost of the inventory used to ship (which are governed by FIFO, and may vary from what’s on the price list).

Gross profit
Gross revenue - order tax - order cost.

Top 10 products - revenue
The top performing products in terms of revenue calculated from sales order rows that match the filters regardless of shipping or fulfilment status.

Worst 10 products - revenue
The worst performing products in terms of revenue calculated from sales order rows that match the filters regardless of shipping or fulfilment status. The data used for this chart starts with sold values of ‘1’, so products with zero sales won’t show.

Revenue by Category
Total revenue accrued for products grouped by their reporting category. 

Revenue by Brand
Total revenue accrued for products grouped by their brand

Revenue by Supplier
Total revenue accrued for products grouped by their primary supplier/vendor. 

Glew_-_Products_4.pngProduct affinity matrix
Filterable by Brand or Category, an affinity matrix helps identify synergies by showing you how often products from different groups are sold together. Two categories of products with a high affinity are two products that are frequently sold together within a single sales transaction. The numbers shown within the intersections refer to the number of orders that contained both groups.

Sell through rate by product
A sortable table that shows the following per product:

  • Product: Product name
  • SKU: The product’s Stock Keeping Unit identifier
  • Brand: The name of the product’s brand as per Brightpearl
  • Category: The product's reporting category
  • Units sold: total count of units sold, regardless of fulfilment or shipping status.
  • Units received: total number of products that arrived from purchase orders
  • On hand: the on hand value snapshot as per the final date in the filter
  • Cost: Sum of the product cost from the order items table
  • Sell through rate: % of on-hand inventory sold as of the final date in the filter
  • Last order date: The date when the product was last sold on a sales order
  • Last received date: The date when the product was last received on a goods-in note through a purchase order (sales credits or inventory corrections will not affect this).
