Install the Brightpearl Magento extension

To connect Brightpearl and Magento you will need to install and configure an extension on your Magento account. The extension controls all interactions between Brightpearl and Magento.

Installing the Brightpearl Magento extension for the first time

You can download the extensions for Magento 1.x stores free here by using the voucher code BRIGHTPEARL

For Magento 2 stores please contact Brightpearl support and we'll provide the files for you

To install the Flint Interactions extension and the Brightpearl Magento extension.  Both extensions will be provided in the zip file:

  • Ensure you have a current backup of your site (see below for a backup guide)
  • Disable Magento compilation function
  • Enable the configuration cache:

In Magento admin, go to System > Cache Management.

Select all cache types and use the actions to refresh.

  • Unzip the file
  • There will be two extensions one named flint_interactions and one named flint_brightpearl, unzip each of these.
  • The Install location and method is different depending on which Magento version you're using...
    • IF YOU ARE USING MAGENTO 1.x then you can copy the files within each of the extension folders provided to the root folder of your Magento integration.  Note: Do not copy the folders over, only the files within each of the folders.
    • IF YOU ARE USING MAGENTO 2.x then you should use the standard module folders. Your Magento developer should be able to assist you with this and there are numerous resources available online from Magento and developers regarding the various methods of doing this. The important part to note is the vendor name should be Hotlink and there are 2 modules to install (One named Framework and another named Brightpearl) which are within the zip file
  • Refresh the cache
  • Log out and back in
  • Re-enable the Magento compilation functionality

In Magento admin, go to System > Tools > Web Setup Wizard. Click the Run compilation process button.

In Magento admin, go to System > Tools > Backups.

Use the buttons to take a backup of the system, database and media, and database.

If you get 404 errors when trying to visit the modules configuration screens, try logging out and back in. This can be because the back office was logged in during installation.
