Quotes, Orders & Invoices Sales Channels

A sales channel is a way of monitoring where your orders are coming from, whether that's online, EPOS, eBay...you can add an many as you need and they can be assigned to orders automatically! Channels help you report effectively on sales but will also help control warehouses, price lists and teams for your sales.

Note : If you are subscribed as a service business and therefore not using inventory management then you'll see Department.

There are several different types of channel, some can be manually selected, but others can only be system generated by installing one of out integrations, such as eBay or Magento.

Misc channel

Add as many channels of this type as you require. It will allow you to categories your orders and report on them. This type of channel doesn't control any order settings and will need to be assigned manually.

Brightpearl EPOS

Every till point you have with Brightpearl needs to be set up as it's own channel. You can only create as many EPOS channels as the terminals you have subscribed to.

Each EPOS channel is set up with the following:

  • Warehouse  Used for stock availability, this is where sold items will be removed from.
  • Printer  The printer used for till receipts.
  • Cash code  The nominal code used for recording cash takings/refunds in EPOS.
  • Card code  The nominal code used for recording takings by card/refunds in EPOS.

Magento store

This will be created automatically when you install the Magento integration. We currently only support single domain with Magento, so you will only need one channel. Any orders generated through your Magento Webstore will automatically be assigned to this channel.

eBay sales

This channel will be created when you install the eBay Integration. Any orders downloaded from eBay will automatically be assigned to this channel.

Amazon sales

This channel will be created when you install the Amazon integration. Any orders downloaded from Amazon will automatically be assigned to this channel.

Shopify store

When adding a new Shopify channel, there are some settings you are required to enter:

Channel Name  - This is used internally within Brightpearl to help you differentiate between your stores or channels. This name will not be displayed to customers.
Brand  - Select the channel brand you wish to use for this channel.
Price list  - Choose the price you would like to use to display prices for this channel.

You would need to add multiple Shopify channels if you have more than one store.

Bigcommerce store

When adding a new Bigcommerce channel, there are some settings you are required to enter:

Channel Name  - This is used internally within Brightpearl to help you differentiate between your stores or channels. This name will not be displayed to customers.
Brand  - Select the channel brand you wish to use for this channel.
Price list  - Choose the price you would like to use to display prices for this channel.

You would need to add multiple Bigcommerce channels if you have more than one store.

ekmpowershop store

When adding a new ekmpowershop channel, there are some settings you are required to enter:

Channel Name  - This is used internally within Brightpearl to help you differentiate between your stores or channels. This name will not be displayed to customers.
Brand  - Select the channel brand you wish to use for this channel.
Price list  - Choose the price you would like to use to display prices for this channel.

You would need to add multiple ekmpowershop channels if you have more than one store.

Viewing reports by channel

Channels can be used for breaking down your reports into areas of your business, such as online, in-store, eBay...not only can you report on sales but channels can be used for filtering accounting and viewing figures related to sales channels.

You'll find the "Channels" filter on many reports, such as:

  • Sales Analysis (by Customer, Product, ...and more)  Answer questions such as "What is the total sales revenue generated from online sales?"
  • Sales Detail  Answer questions such as "Which online orders were generated by my marketing campaign?"
  • Profit & Loss  Answer questions such as "How much profit has my webstore generated so far this month?"
  • General Ledger  Great for viewing sales or expenses by channel!

How to add a sales channel

  1. Go to  Channels > Manage Channels .
  2. Click the  Add Channel  button.
  3. Select the type of channel you wish to create.
  4. Enter a name for the channel - this is how it will be displayed throughout Brightpearl.
  5. Depending on the channel type, make the other necessary entries. Read the relevant documentation for that specific channel for help.
  6. Click to save the channel.

The channel will be listed and now available for assigning to orders, accounting journals and purchases.
